Criminology Graduate

This charity values it staff, as shown by their ‘investors in people’ and ‘best companies to work for’ awards. You will be making a huge difference to people in prison as well as those recently released, so they have the support they need to successfully re-settle into society.

Its a supportive and friendly team.  6 people we have placed into these roles have been promoted within 12 months across the organisation into more senior roles.

This is a floating role, working between HMP Channings Wood, HMP Exeter, Exeter Probation Trust and Barnstable Probation Trust.  So, you will need to be a driver and flexible to drive between the locations. Typically, you will work a 50-50 split out of probation and custody, and then spending 1 day a week working from home.  The hardest part of the role is the paperwork. There is lots of it.  So, you will need to be really organised.

For each client you meet – you will make an assessment, put in place a plan, and provide them support around employment.  Helping them create a CV, apply for jobs, manage the disclosure process, and prepare for interviews.  You will also sign post them to organisations that can support around areas such as housing, health, family relationships as well as helping them develop confidence and motivation.

Please apply via this advert – everyone will get a response (if told unsuccessful, you can follow up and further feedback will be provided). If you would like to speak to someone before applying (or by chance have applied and not heard back), please call the office and ask for Mariam (phone number on the Red 5 People website).

This charity is seeking people with a background within criminal justice, employment support, or supported housing. People who have previously worked as an Employment Advisor, Probation Officer, Support Worker, Project Worker, Hostel Worker, Case Manager or Resettlement Officer may well be interested in this role.  Criminology graduates looking to start their career are also welcomed to apply.  The stating salary is £23, 372 per annum
